Job Description

The Athlete Development Coach (SNT) is a regular full-time position reporting to the Program Director, Sitting National Teams. This position is responsible for overseeing all training at SNT development program camps, training athletes between camps, managing program coaches, and ensuring National Team training methods, systems, and tactics are utilized. The position will assist in specific program matters, logistics, and athlete selection. Cross departmental support is a general expectation of all USAV employees. Additional hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays. This position may be remote but will require time in Edmond, Oklahoma for camps and National Team training observation.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

Direct training of SNTDP athletes at camps and between camps.

a) Train athletes at camp.

  • Work with Sitting Program Director in producing a yearly periodization plan/chart for the SNT Development Program (SNTDP) to follow.
  • Prepare practice plans with Program Coaches.
  • Oversee camp practices.
  • Work with Sitting Performance Analyst on ways the Head Coach can make video skill evaluations for individual players as needed.
  • Work with the Certified Athletic Trainer in athlete care at camps.
  • Teach athletes National Team training methods, systems, and tactics and provide performance markers for players.

b) Train athletes between camps

  • Follow the periodization plan for training between camps.
  • Prepare practice plans weekly & distribute by Sunday of each week.
  • Review & critique video skill evaluations for individual players weekly
  • Work with the Performance Coach on ways the Head Coach can design bi-weekly S&C training for the players and collect, review, & critique weekly videos.

C) Oversee Program Coaches at Camps

Assist Manager, Sitting Volleyball Teams with SNTDP programing.

  • Assist with recruiting, evaluating, and selecting athletes into the SNTDP.
  • Assist with financial responsibilities for assigned budget(s).
  • Assist with coordinating SNTDP competitions and camps.
  • Assist with managing competitive matches.
  • Assist with identifying and collaborating with outside consultant personnel.
  • Assist with planning and developing an annual program schedule.
  • Assist with managing the logistical process as it involves the development camps and any other programming.
  • Assist with the evaluation of camps.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and enforcing an Athlete Handbook or appropriate policies.
  • Assist with working with athletes to provide the required paperwork for UCO, USAV, and USOPC.
  • Consult on selections for Elite Coaches in the development program.
  • Consult on elite player evaluation and tracking system.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree required - Sports Administration, Coaching, Physiology, Exercise Science, Education, or related field.
  • Minimum three (2) years coaching at the elite junior, collegiate, national, or international level; or the equivalent in competition and sport management.
  • Previous work with Paralympic programs desirable.
  • Proven ability to promote sport performance.
  • Demonstrated leadership of athletes and support staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including athletes, coaches, administrative staff, and medical personnel in a high stress environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and working knowledge of computer programs.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date).
  • Must successfully complete SafeSport training within two weeks of hire date. Training must be maintained throughout employment.

Salary: $50 - $55K commensurate with experience
